ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the infection status and epidemiological characteristics of viral pathogens in hospitalized patients with severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) in Guangdong Province from 2019 to 2021, so as to provide reference for clinical diagnosis and prevention. Methods The respiratory tract samples of SARI patients collected from 2019 to 2021 were detected and analyzed for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), adenovirus (ADV), human rhinovirus/enterovirus (HRV/EV), human metapneumonic virus (HMPV) and other common respiratory viruses using Luminex respiratory multi-pathogen detection technology. Results A total of 1 948 influenza-negative cases were collected, of which 24.28 % were positive detection of virus infection. HRV/EV was the highest (10.32%), followed by RSV (4.31%). The detection rates were statistically significantly different among different age groups (χ2=176.186,P2=0.042,P>0.05). The detection peaks of RSV were mainly concentrated in summer and autumn, while HMPV was prevalent in winter, and HRV/EV and ADV had no obvious seasonality. Mixed infection was found in 39 samples, and the mixed infection rate was 2.00%. In the mixed infection cases, HPIV and HRV/EV combined infection was the most common. Conclusion HRV/EV, RSV, HMPV and ADV are predominant viral pathogens in SARI influenza-negative hospitalized cases in Guangdong Province from 2019 to 2021. It is recommended to strengthen the surveillance of SARI cases in children under 5 years old.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the causes of false-positive anti-HCV in non-syndromic cleft lip and palate with serum chemiluminescence test. Methods:We performed a hospital-based,case-control study of 4 050 patients with non-syndromic cleft lip and palate and 8 547 control patients without cleft lip and palate to evaluate associations between positive anti-HCV and non-syndromic cleft lip and palate. CLIA test were used for detect anti-HCV in control group. RIBA and FQ-PCR were used for confirming the result of the positive samples of CLIA test. CLIA test were used for detect anti-HCV in case group until CLIA test was negative. IgG,RF and ANA were used for case-control comparisons. Results:The detection rate of anti-HCV were higher in the case group than that of control group (P<0. 05). The false-positive rate was 1 percent based on testing of 4 050 patients. These samples were negative after opration 1-19 months. There were no change among IgG, RF and ANA in the false-positivepatients. Conclusion: False-positive anti-HCV in non-syndromic cleft lip was possible associated with abnormal plasma metabolic product. It can be excluded by track monitoring.

ABSTRACT

In recent years, there has been an apparent increase in the occurrence of harmful algal blooms in fresh waters. The value of applying the novel wattle extract (Acacia mimosa) to inhibit algal growth was assessed. Our results showed that the growth of Microcystis aeruginosa was successfully repressed by the plant extract and resulted in decreased extracellular microcystin-LR production. In the experiments, it showed a very effective inhibition in the stage of exponential growth (the largest decrease in level is 47.3% of the control) especially in nonsterile conditions, and the extract can reduce 14.5-24.7% cell density of the control in the stationary stage. In outdoor experiments, the extract reduced dissolved oxygen and pH, and selectively cut down cyanobacterial cell density to one-third of the control after 36 d of treatment. Accordingly, due to competitive inhibition in interspecies, other nanoalgae and small-sized aquatic animals declined, while macrozooplankton increased. Finally, more large algae were eliminated and thereby the water treated was clarified and the recovery of the freshwater ecosystem was promoted. Hence, the present study suggested a new and more effective and very low ecological risk approach to reduce nuisance blooms cyanobacteria in eutrophic water.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To explore the feasibility, method and indications of distally-based vascular fasciocutaneons island flap with sural nerve preserved for improving the sensory absence of lateral foot after traditional surgical procedures. Methods Sixteen lower limbs of 8 cadavers, 8 fresh limbs were infuse dthe red and blue latexes via femoral artery and vein. After 48 hours, anatomical study of the sural nerves and lesser saphenons veins with their axial arteries was performed. Clinically, 12 cases of the skin defects of foot and anterior tibias were repaired by vascular fascioeutanoons island flap, in which the aural nerves were dissociated and preserved from the flaps. Results There was a respective axial artery accompanying the sural nerve and the lesser saphonous vein. The distances between axial artery and nerve and vein were uncertain, range from 1-8 mm. Furthermore, the 2 axial arteries are communicated each other. The furthest perforators of sural artery were 12-32 nun from the top of lateral ankle, the average was 22 mm. The diameters of the perforator were 1.0-1.5 mm, the average were 1.2 mm. The sural nerves of all 12 cases were preserved in surgery. The skin sensation of the innervation of sural nerve was S3+- S4 in 4 cases, and S2+ - S3 in 4 cases. The sensation of lateral ankle area was So in 2 cases, and the lateral foot area was S1 in another 2 cases. After 6-24 months (mean 14 months) follow-up, 4 cases of S2-S3 recovered to normal in 5-30 d after surgery. Conclusion There is a positive value of preserving sural nerve for the foot sensation. The repective axial arteries accompanying the sural nerve and the lesser saphenons vein are the anatomic bases of preserving nerve. Be cantion of injuring the accompanying artery while surgery.
